Dot’s birthday announcements went out today. I included an invitation to her party with all of them; please do not feel obligated to come (especially since most of you don’t live nearby) but I thought everyone might like the brief updates on it.

10:00am to 2:00pm
Finger Sandwiches, Crudités, and Birthday Cake
We are having a drop-in style party so Dot is able to enjoy her guests a few at a time without being overwhelmed. It was a great success last year, and wonderful to visit with family we don’t see often. Her party is a month late this year due to her Mama being under the weather.
Dot has had another healthy and happy year with no illnesses nor unusual challenges. We would again like to express our thanks and gratitude for the gifts from our family and friends over the past year.

Dot got books and a Goodnight Moon bunny from me, books and clothes from Grandma, and a bear and an art easel from Nanna and Pappa. We’re saving the art easel for later – she is nearly out of paper from a huge pad that we set on the floor for her.
I put her in the little frog and shamrock dress that her Nanna made last year, and it still fit great! It was definitely much shorter than a year ago, and looked so cute with pants.

Her birthday announcements are finally done. I think I’m feeling well enough to start planning a party for her. She won’t mind if it is late – and I have all these cool supplies from the Huggies Pull-Ups.
We watched the potty training video today. Dot loves the songs and wants me to play them over and over. I will have to put them on her “phone” for her.
Dot had her “phone” to help keep her quiet while I had an ultrasound today. The technician was so impressed with it she will be getting one for her 4-year-old granddaughter.
This is a wonderful product. This is the only thing that even comes close to what Dot needed without spending a couple hundred dollars. She is a toddler after all, and if she does manage to break it, it isn’t incredibly expensive to replace. Unfortunately the portable DVD players, although cheap, aren’t sturdy enough to protect the disc from scratches when she pounces onto the unit. This one is compatible with her DVDs and videos, can connect to the computer for updates, and has an external speaker. It can also view pictures and music, and has a slot for a mini SD card in case I want to load up a couple of movies in the future. The bonus was that it came with a rubber case inside the box! Dot likes to take it off, but at least it has one. She can watch the home movies of herself on it, too, so I can reclaim my own phone. It has been wonderful when she needs to be quiet while at the doctor’s office or other public place.

The new layout is complete! What do you think? Dot picked out the pattern and colors. She kept picking these three pieces out of a set of ten. After a few days I added ten more pieces, and she kept picking the same three out of a total of twenty pieces. I will be tweaking the header colors a bit next weekend, but overall I think she did a good job!

This is Dot’s entry in the Silly Kids Photo Contest. She’s wearing her daddy’s chenille toe socks. Finalists will be announced October 22, at which time voting will determine the winner of $1000 for educational materials!
