Potty Animals

Daddy brought Dot’s new potty upstairs today.  We told Dot what it was, and although she wouldn’t sit on it, she put all her little toy animals in it and said, “potty animals”.

Quiet Reading

Dot and I did errands on our own this morning, and we had a good time visiting many different people and places. While waiting at the pharmacy, she bounced all over the floor pointing at all of the diamond insets, and told me quite a few numbers off of large price tags at her eye level.

I think Dot is getting the hang of our quiet reading hour before bed. She nearly cleaned out her bookcase bringing books back to the bed and reading them. She didn’t ask for any help, and just read them on her own. She reads the word “bay” now, she must have picked that up from one of the little animal books we have, and her new word this evening is “okay”.

Potty Training Debut

We watched the Huggies Pull-Ups potty training video, and Dot loved the songs. There is a menu on the DVD that lets you play all four songs, and we did that quite a few times, with Dot saying, “Again! Again!” She knows the word and sign for Potty already (thanks Brainy Baby Talking Hands), and thought the cheer that spells the word out was great. Later we watched the Potty Dance video. She was RIVETED. She danced to the video, although she wasn’t mimicking the steps yet. That evening we made a big deal about ditching the diapers and put on her big girl pants (the Huggies Pull-Ups have the most ‘features’ of any training pants I have ever seen), and Daddy installed the new adult-child toilet seat. After a big debut, she is ready to start her official potty training!

Okay, she cried when I tried to put her on the potty, but hey, at least it is a start!

Dot’s Phone

Today was a busy day getting ready for Dot’s party. Dot doesn’t seem too worried. She spent the afternoon playing with her new Friendly Flip Phone that she got from her Aunt Charlotte and Uncle John.
